Orbit Baby in People Magazine

People_coverThis week's People Magazine features the shots that everyone's been waiting for - Nicole Richie and her gorgeous little family.  We adored the many photos, and were super thrilled with Nicole's comments on our client Orbit Baby's car seat and stroller system.

"The Best!" says Richie of the Orbit Infant System. "You just take the seat [off the stroller base] and put it in the car."

Be sure to grab the magazine, which hits stands today and go to page 79.

Petunia Pickle Bottom on MomTrends

Morning_in_mumbai_ctc_3Intrepid writer and hot mom blogger, MomTrends featured our client Petunia Pickle Bottom's Cross Town Clutch yesterday.

She picked as her favorite the new glazed fabric, Morning in Mumbai, which is a gorgeous vintage wallpaper inspired emerald green and peacock purple.

The bag features hand embroidery, and weighs just 5 lbs.  And while the Cross Town ClutchMorning_in_mumbai_ctc_bugg is super stylish, it also has all the goodies that moms need for short trips - a fold out changing station, wipey case and lots of pockets.  It hangs easily from a stroller, and wipes clean when those inevitable spills happen.

MomTrends went on to profile some of head Petunia designer DeNai Jones' inspirations:

"Trends come and go; it’s the iconic styles from the 40’s that I can’t resist: tweeds, rich European textile construction, and classic silhouettes. In terms of fall fashion, one can never go wrong with a pairing an earthy dark hue with just a splash of color".

Be sure to read the full article here.

Orbit Baby on The Today Show

Our client Orbit Baby's OIS (Orbit Infant System) was included in a segment this morning about best baby gear.  Today Show correspondent, and high tech mom, Cat Schwartz profiled a number of products, the OIS among them.  Each product was picked for the segment because they help parents take care of their babies in new and interesting ways.  Giada De Laurentiis, who has an Orbit ready to go when she has her little bundle in a few weeks, interviewed Cat.

Petunia's "Juno Bag" featured in Chicago Tribune

Ellen_pagePerhaps you saw our nifty post a few weeks back about our client Petunia Pickle Bottom's Tutu Roll bag playing supporting diaper bag in the film Juno

Over the weekend the Chicago Tribune picked up the story and ran it in their Sunday "Q" lifestyle section over the weekend.

Writer Kelly Haramis describes the Tutu Roll's performance as such:

"Petunia Pickle Bottom's Tutu Roll Boxy Tuturoll_30_p_2Backpack diaper bag made a cameo appearance in "Juno." Although it only stayed on-screen for a moment, Q thinks it will have star, er, staying power at playdates and Mommy & Me classes."

We think Petunia's Tutu Roll may be remembered a bit more fondly than Ellen Page's Red Carpet dress.

Snuggle Serenely, and Sojourn blissfully with new Baby Slings from Petunia Pickle Bottom.

Adobe_cs3For a company known for its remarkable textiles, the new Baby Sling Collection from Petunia Pickle Bottom is a natural.

Rolling out for 2008 are 2 Petunia sling groups.

Serenity, created from the company’s signature brocade collection; and an all new 100% organic knit cotton group entitled Sojourn.

Both Petunia Serenity and Sojourn Slings are one piece pouch styles that allow for baby wearing in a variety of positions.  No adjustment of buckles or straps is required to wear babies in cradle, tummy, or kangaroo positions.  Petunia Slings can carry babies from newborn up to 32 pounds.

Serenity’s beautiful brocades will be available in 3 fabrics that coordinate with diaper bags and receiving blankets designed by Petunia.  These designs include Honeysuckle, Teaberry, and Baroque.  Serenity Slings by Petunia will retail for about $91.

Sojourn’s 100% organic knit cotton will be available in 4 designs including Sparrows on the Seine; Morning in Mumbai; India Ink; and Corsican Blue.  Sojourn Slings by Petunia will retail for about $69.

Each Petunia Sling style allows for hands free toting of little ones, and can easily be tucked into a diaper bag when not needed.

“Baby wearing is so convenient and a great way to bond with baby,” says Korie Conant ofPpb_sling2_2  Petunia Pickle Bottom.  “We wanted to create a collection that would be truly unique and compliment a wide array of personal styles.”

Petunia Pickle Bottom is available at upscale stores such as Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Petit Tresor in California; and Belly Dance Maternity in New York and Chicago. The company, founded in 1999 by a trio of young entrepreneurs, is headquartered in Ventura, California. Borrowing the name from childhood (the head designer's father coined the phrase when she was a little one), Petunia Pickle Bottom has become more than a silly sentimental name, it’s the brand all moms want.

Please browse the photo album at right to see individual styles.

Avril Lavigne and the tale of the diaper bag shopping spree

Avril_lavigne_2E! News is reporting that Avril Lavigne spent the day on monday with hubbie Deryck Whibley shopping for diaper bags.  And while it sounds like she picked up quite a few throughout the day, we want to point out that the super great Scout Bag that the couple picked out from Petit Tresor works equally as well for general computer and gadget toting as for diaper toting.

The Scout Bag from Petunia is a very dashing Heathered_olive_scout_bag men's diaper bag that comes in either black or brown leather (Rubicon Rucksack), or green or gray heathered felt (Journey Pack).

Uber celebrity gossip columnist, Marc Malkin posits the idea that perhaps the angst filled singer was merely shopping for a friend.  Imagine!

Lavigne and Whibley have been dogged by pregnancy rumors for several weeks now.

Introducing the Cosmopolitan Carryall from Petunia.

Cosmocafe1While she may not have actually said, "Let them eat Cake", Marie Antoinette surely would have fallen all over this delectable new bag from Petunia.

The new Cake Cosmopolitan Carryall from Petunia offers up both sophistication and high function.

Inspired by the graphics of Renaissance France, the Cosmopolitan Carryall is the latest in Petunia's bestselling Cake Collection (Christina Aguilera and Salma Hayek both carry them).

Created to impart a bold, vintage feel, Cosmo sports a doctor style frame and custom cut velvet.  Measuring 13" high x 16" wide x 5" deep, the bag has 7 easy pockets on the outside, and 2 reach-and-grab interior pockets.

DeNai Jones, co-founder of Petunia designed the custom cut velvet fabric for the line.  While some may believe that all velvets are the same, this particular variety of cut velvet is the result of a special process in which a pattern is cut around uncut loops of velvet pile. This pattern is then interwoven on a backing of wool tweed to give it a super lush texture.

The Cosmopolitan Carryall will be available in these 4 fabrics:

Chocolate Cherry Cake - Aster Pink and Chocolate with wool tweed trim. Aster PinkCosmocafe2  water resistant lining.

Mocha Berry Cream Cake - Sapphire Blue and Chocolate with Sapphire Blue water resistant lining.

Pistachio Layer Cake- Aqua Blue and Moss Green with Moss Green lining.

Midnight Blackberry Cake – Black and Cream with Black lining.

The Cosmopolitan Carryall can be carried on the shoulder, and also as a messenger bag. Suggested retail price is about $342.

Be sure to browse the photo album at right to see each fabric in the collection, as well as views of the front, back, and interior of the bag.

The Tale of the Traveling Baby Sling

Belize Once upon a time there was a group of friends who were active, adventurous, loved their babies, loved to travel, and most of all loved babywearing.

These gals took a shine to a particular baby sling that they felt would suit their penchant for both babywearing and traveling in a creative and exhilarating way.

The baby sling, from the Sakura Bloom Luxe Collection, was chosen by the group to purchase and share. Yes share.  As each lovely lady had travel itineraries staggered with the rest of their friends, they decided to alternate use of the sling for each planned trip.

The Sakura Bloom sling, in a lovely green, is affectionately and appropriately named "Verde".  The chronicles of Verde are being carefully documented over time by the group on a blog called "The Traveling Sling".

So far, since the Traveling Sling project began just a couple months ago, Verde has made itBelizesling_2  to San Diego, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York.

As if a sling named Verde wasn't inspiration enough, Sakura Bloom has just added a new   sling to the Luxe group named Belize.  Now we know Belize beaches are warm, soft, and dreamy, so the turquoise green sling is definitely well named.

Handcrafted from wild Tussah Silk, Luxe slings are made from an eco friendly material made from the cocoons of wild silk moths.  The raw silk is then hand dyed and woven, creating a sumptuous textile that is strong and soft.  The marvelous color is prismatic and unique.

We hope the Traveling Sling ladies will make it someplace exotic with Verde soon so we can follow its journey online.
